Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago named Charles W. Hogue Jr., MD, the James E. Eckenhoff Professorship of Anesthesiology.

Here are four things to know:

1. Dr. Hogue is a professor and incoming chair of the anesthesiology department at the school of medicine.

2. Dr. Hogue most recently served as chief of adult anesthesia in the anesthesiology and critical care medicine division at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore.

3. He is associate editor-in-chief of Anesthesia & Analgesia.

4. His research focuses on reducing the risk of neurological injury from cardiac surgery, with a particular emphasis on brain and kidney injury.
