The app, called the OA Self-Study App, features anesthesia key words and definitions, review questions about core concepts in anesthesiology, and full answers and explanations written by physicians and anesthesiology experts. Answers also link to articles on the subjects on OpenAnesthesia and PubMed.

Although this technology was designed with anesthesia residents in mind, it is also for use by all anesthesia professionals. OpenAnesthesia’s founder, Edward Nemergut, MD, said that the app furthers OpenAnesthesia’s mission of “[advancing] the knowledge of anesthesiologists around the world.”
