The department’s curriculum will take effect sometime next academic year, according to the report. Students in the College of Human Medicine do not have formal majors but instead choose a field in which to specialize for their residencies. The new departments were created to meet student demand.
According to the report, the department of anesthesia represents a “big step forward” for the college. The college plans to involve simulated experiences in the curriculum for the new department.
