Anesthesia practices with 100 or more providers became far more common after the turn of the century, according to Anesthesia Business Consultants President and CEO Tony Mira.

These were the eight largest anesthesia entities as of April 2017:

2. Mednax (Sunrise, Fla.)
3. U.S. Anesthesia Partners (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.)
4. NorthStar Anesthesia (Irving, Texas)
5. North American Partners in Anesthesia (Melville, N.Y.)
6. TeamHealth (Knoxville, Tenn.)
7. PhyMed Healthcare Group (Nashville)
8. Somnia (New Rochelle, N.Y.)
