Meet the AMA’s new anesthesiologist president

The American Medical Association appointed Jesse Ehrenfeld, MD, an anesthesiologist, to serve as the organization’s 178th president, according to a June 13 news release from the organization.

A main goal for Dr. Ehrenfeld is to advance the ability for all patients to receive equitable medical care and make changes to the Medicare payment system, he said in his inaugural address. 

Dr. Ehrenfeld served as chair of the AMA board of trustees from 2019 to 2020 and is also a tenured professor of anesthesiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
