Mayo Clinic recognizes Dr. James Eisenach with alumnus award: 4 things to know

James Eisenach, MD, has received one of this year’s four Mayo Clinic Distinguished Alumni Awards. The award, presented by the Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic, recognizes those who exemplify the clinic’s mission.

Here are four things to know about Dr. Eisenach:

1. He completed an anesthesia residency at the Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education in 1985.

2. He is now the FM James III Professor of Anesthesiology and vice chair for research in the department of anesthesiology at Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Wake Forest School of Medicine.

3. He currently serves as the president and CEO of the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research.

4. His research investigates mechanisms of neuraxial anesthesia and analgesia, which has helped anesthesiologists better understand how neurotransmitters contribute to analgesia.
