Illinois pain center closes following anesthesiologist's license suspension

Integrative Pain Center of America in Rock Island, Ill., closed after an anesthesiologist who practiced there had his license suspended, the Dispatch-Argus reports.

Here's what you should know:

1. The practice closed after Nov. 7, when the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation suspended the license of Venkateswara Rao Karuparthy, MD.

2. The suspension came as a result of sexual abuse charges brought against the anesthesiologist.

3. Dr. Karuparthy was accused of fondling a patient in his practice and faces two counts of criminal sexual abuse. He pleaded innocent during his first court appearance Jan. 3.
