House considers Medicare Access to Rural Anesthesiology Act — 3 important observations

The bipartisan Medicare Access to Rural Anesthesiology Act has been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives, according to an ASA report.

Here are three important observations:

1. The act, introduced by Rep. Lynn Jenkins (R-Kan.) and Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.), would expand rural access to physician anesthesiologists.

2. The legislation would reform Medicare’s rural incentive payment for all types of anesthesia providers and extend rural hospitals’ access to physician anesthesiologists.  

3. The bill has been referred to the House Committee on Ways and Means.
