FBI raids pain physician, anesthesiologist Dr. Mark Murphy's office — 4 things to know

On Feb. 27, federal agents raided the office of Lewisburg, Tenn.-based pain management specialist Mark Murphy, MD, WHNT 19 News reports.

Here are four things to know.

1. The FBI was at Dr. Murphy's office for a law enforcement action. The U.S. Attorney's Office in Birmingham also confirms that federal agents executed a search warrant at the office, but did not reveal what they were searching for.

2. Dr. Murphy holds a Tennessee medical license with a specialty in anesthesiology that expires March 31, 2019.

3. Dr. Murphy is board certified in pain management and anesthesiology. He holds staff privileges at Marshall Medical Center in Lewisburg.

4. Prior to opening his Tennessee-based practice, Dr. Murphy practiced in Alabama and had a complaint lodged against him of pain pill over-prescription. However, Alabama Board of Medical Examiners dismissed the complaint.
