Early-career anesthesiologists earn the sixth-highest average salary among all specialties, according to a new report from recently launched salary transparency platform Marit Health. 

Here are three more notes on early-career anesthesiologist salary:

1. Newly practicing anesthesiologists earn an average of $530,000 annually while working about 48.6 hours per week.

2. Early-career anesthesiologists in academic settings earn an average of $439,000, which is about 11% less than their nonacademic counterparts, who average $547,000.

3. According to Medscape’s Salary Explorer, these are the 10 best-paying U.S. cities for early-career anesthesiologists, with average annual salaries:

  1. Indianapolis: $347,440
  2. Chicago: $325,234
  3. Houston: $322,894
  4. Dallas: $322,820
  5. Los Angeles: $312,927
  6. San Francisco: $304,686
  7. Miami: $291,320
  8. Seattle: $289,829
