Dr. Howard Zucker to serve as New York State Department of Health commissioner

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo appointed Howard Zucker, MD, JD, as commissioner of the State Department of Health, according to an ASA report.

Dr. Zucker has been serving as acting commissioner of the department since June 2014. He previously served as clinical professor of anesthesiology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University and a pediatric cardiac anesthesiologist at Montefiore Medical Center, both located in New York. He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
