Dr. Fitch wins ASA’s Bertram W. Coffer, M.D. award: 3 things to know

The American Society of Anesthesiologists named Jane C.K. Fitch, MD, winner of the 2016 Bertram W. Coffer, M.D. Excellence in Government award.

Here are three things to know:

1. Dr. Fitch, a past president of the ASA, is an anesthesia patient safety advocate. She has advocated for the use of the physician-led team-based model of anesthesia care.

2. Dr. Fitch Fitch is a professor and chair of the anesthesiology department at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City.

3. ASA gives the award in recognition of exemplary contributions to the anesthesiology specialty, its practitioners and patients.
