The goal is to adapt the dose of anesthesia to the individual characteristics of each patient and improve recovery time, using sensors and a monitor to record parameters that indicate the patient’s hypnotic state and adjust the dose accordingly.
Juan Albino Mendez, the lead author of the study, is a researcher in the Anaesthesia Control Group at the University of La Laguna, in the Canary Islands. A report about the system has been published in Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering.
