The Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies/Division of Registrations, which licenses nurses in Colorado, will reportedly accept and process applications from CRNAs without graduate degrees beginning July 1, 2010. CRNA applicants not currently licensed in the state must obtain a Colorado Registered Nurse licenses as well as inclusion in Colorado’s Advance Practice Registry, according to the release. CRNAs that hold an active, unencumbered Compact Multi-state Registered Nurse license will also be eligible.
The AANA notes that the current applications on the DORA website have not been updated and still include the graduate degree requirement. They advise CRNAs to contact DORA directly at (303) 894-2430 to determine when updated forms will be posted on the DORA website or how to otherwise obtain the correct forms.
The Colorado Association of Nurse Anesthetists supported the law, which was enacted on April 29, 2010.
