Colorado Court Upholds Opt-Out From Federal Anesthesia Requirement

Sabrina Rodak -

The Denver District Court has upheld Colorado's right to opt out of the federal physician supervision requirement for nurse anesthetists, according to a news release from the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists.

This ruling supports the Colorado Association of Nurse Anesthetists, Colorado Nurses Association, Colorado Hospital Association and former Gov. Bill Ritter, who opted out of the requirement in Sept. 2010. The decision dismisses the lawsuit filed in Sept. 2010 by the Colorado Society of Anesthesiologists and the Colorado Medical Society.
