The checklist was developed with input from Dr. Pronovost, a professor of anesthesiology and critical care medicine and surgery at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore and medical director for the Center of Innovation in Quality Patient Care, as well as Atul Gawande, MD, professor in the department of health policy and management at the Harvard School of Public Health and a surgeon at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, both in Boston.
