1. Anesthesiologists earned $338,000 on average in 2013 — about the same as in 2012.

2. The highest compensating region of the country for anesthesiologists is the North Central, at $365,000.

3. Self-employed anesthesiologists received $68,000 more on average than employed anesthesiologists.

4. Healthcare organizations were the top compensating practice setting at $360,000, followed by hospitals at $348,000.

5. Anesthesiologists in office-based single-specialty group practices received around $340,000, which was $5,000 less than office-based multispecialty group practices on average.
