The nurse, Sarah May Casareto, allegedly told her patient she could not administer Fentanyl, the anesthetic allocated for the patient’s kidney stone removal procedure. She allegedly took the pain medication herself and resigned from the hospital when administration requested a drug test.

Ms. Casareto was arrested and charged with felony theft of a controlled substance. She denies the allegations from Abbott Northwestern Hospital.
