AANA awards Kellie Deeter for outstanding professional advocacy — 4 insights

The American Association of Nurse Anesthetists awarded Kellie Deeter, CRNA, the 2018 Ira P. Gunn Award for Outstanding Professional Advocacy at the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists’ annual congress, Sept. 21-25 in Boston, the Norwalk Reflector reports.

1. Ms. Deeter owns Northern Ohio Anesthesia and Firelands Anesthesia in Willard, Ohio.

2. She is also a Sylvania, Ohio-based Lourdes University adjunct faculty member.

3. The Ira P. Gunn Award recognizes individuals who have overcome legislative, legal and regulatory challenges to nurse anesthesia practice rights.

4. Ms. Deeter said, “Receiving the Ira P. Gunn award is about fighting for something that will better serve the citizens of this state. Engaging the CRNAs of Ohio to advocate for change in outdated statutory regulation will help us to provide safe, effective anesthesia care to all of our patients, in every anesthesia practice model.”
