8 Recent Anesthesiologist Appointments and Accomplishments

Here are eight recent anesthesiologists' professional appointments and accomplishments.

Appointments

El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, Calif., has named Robert H. Pinsker, MD, to its newly-created quality, patient care and patient experience committee. He is among five members of the committee who will serve in an advisory role to the hospital's board of directors.

Keith A. Fleischman, DO, has joined Cenegenics Medical Institute in New York City as a staff anesthesiologist. He will work with cardiologist George Shapiro, MD, and vascular surgeon and cancer specialist Joseph E. Bosiljevac, Jr., MD, to treat patients in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut and Rhode Island.

Deane Marchbein, MD, will serve as president of the U.S. division of Doctors Without Borders, an international organization providing healthcare in impoverished countries. She is a board certified anesthesiologist at Cambridge (Mass.) Health Alliance and is affiliated with Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center has named Edward Sherwood, MD, PhD, vice chair for research in the department of anesthesiology. Dr. Sherwood will oversee all of the department's investigational activities in his new role.

Jimmy Windsor, MD, was appointed director of congenital cardiac anesthesiology at University of New Mexico Hospitals in Albuquerque. He began his new position on June 1.

Accomplishments

Saint Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., honored its anesthesiology group with the 31st annual Franciscan Award. Anesthesiology Associates of Saint Francis, a 16-member team of anesthesiologists, received the award for volunteering time, services and financial support to the surrounding community.

The International Anesthesia Research Society has awarded Ansgar Brambrink, MD, PhD, $750,000 for anesthesia research — the largest single grant in the organization's 90-year history. Dr. Brambrink, a professor at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, will use the Frontiers in Anesthesia Research Award to investigate the long-term consequences of anesthesia exposure in infant monkeys.

Christopher Reis, DO, of the Brain & NeuroSpine Clinic of Missouri in Cape Girardeau, has become board certified in anesthesiology. Dr. Reis specializes in providing comprehensive pain management for chronic spine, joint and myofascial pain.
