1. The average full-time compensation for anesthesiologists in 2009 was $355,264. Male anesthesiologists reported a higher salary than female anesthesiologists at $365,062 compared with $310,620, respectively.

4. Most anesthesiologists reported either an increase (36 percent) or no change (37 percent) in the number of patient visits they saw in the past year.
5. Nearly half (48 percent) of anesthesiologists surveyed reported an increase in the number of Medicaid patients they have seen in the past year; 46 percent reported no change and 6 percent reported a decrease in the number of Medicaid patients.
6. Most anesthesiologists (58 percent) reported an increase in the number of outstanding or delinquent receivables, with 37 percent reporting no change and 5 percent reporting a decrease.
7. Most anesthesiologists (56 percent) saw no change in the length of time it took to receive payment, although 39 percent reported that it was taking longer for them to receive payment.
