2 pain management clinics merge to cut wait times — 6 insights

Two Albuquerque, N.M.-based pain management clinics merged to form one of the state’s largest pain management groups, Albuquerque Business First reports.

Here’s what you should know:

1. Quadra Health Institute and USA Pain Clinics merged Nov. 1. Both specialize in pain management care using intervention and rehabilitation.

2. Each company will retain its individual brand, but with combined teams. USA Pain Clinics President Rob Miller will serve as the merged group’s top executive. USA Pain Clinics’ pain specialist, Michael Pylman, MD, will lead the combined provider group.

3. The medical team will comprise nine providers, two physicians, four nurse practitioners and three physician assistants. The companies expect to employ about 40 people in Albuquerque and don’t intend to lay off any current employees.

4. Through the merger, USA Pain Clinics will gain the physical space it needs, and Quadra will benefit from USA Pain’s larger provider team.

5. A provider shortage in New Mexico has left new patients waiting many months to get into a pain management clinic, according to Mr. Miller. The companies said the merger aims to reduce the wait time to under 30 days.

6. USA Pain Clinics has one location in Albuquerque and one in Rio Rancho, N.M. Quadra Health Institute has one location in Albuquerque.
