Bill Walton, who will present on “Climbing Up the Mountain: One More Time” as the final presentation for the pre-conference held Oct. 27, was the NBA’s Most Valuable Player in 1978; named to the all-NBA First Team in 1978; named to the NBA All-Star Team in 1977 and 1978; NBA Playoff’s MVP in 1977; named to the all-NBA second team in 1977; winner of the NBA Sixth Man Award in 1986; and inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1993. He started his broadcasting career in 1990 as an analyst for the then Prime Ticket Network. Mr. Walton worked for CBS Sports in the early 90’s during the NCAA Final Four and then for NBC for many years, including work on the 1996 Atlanta and 2000 Sydney Summer Olympic Games. Over the last 15 years he has worked for ABC, ESPN, NBC, CBS, Fox, MSNBC, Turner Sports, KCAL and the NBA. Mr. Walton is also involved in numerous internet ventures providing content and business acumen. In 2009, Mr. Walton was named one of the top 50 sports broadcasters of all time by the American Sportscasters Association.
