In a study, researchers analyzed the efficacy of treatment of patients with colorectal polyps that were 20 mm in size or greater. Data were collected on lesion characteristics and procedural, clinical and histological outcomes.
A lesion size greater than 40 mm and use of argon plasma coagulation were significant independent predictors of recurrence after effective resection. No deaths resulted from resection and 83.7 percent of patients were able to avoid surgery.
