Assessing Orthopedic and Spine Case Profitability

ASCs should know the contracts they have with each payor and produce updated data on the profitability of each case before submitting the bill to the insurance company, said Vivek Taparia, director of business development, and Matt Lau, corporate controller, Regent Surgical Health, in a presentation they gave at the 9th Annual Orthopedic, Spine and Pain Management-Driven ASC Conference in Chicago on June 10, 2011. If the case isn’t profitable, surgeons should consider taking similar cases out of the ASC in the future.
