The Doylestown (Penn.) Surgery Center has closed, leaders confirmed to Becker’s Oct. 30

The ASC was jointly owned by Doylestown Hospital, Philadelphia-based Jefferson Health, Rothman Orthopaedics, Leawood, Kan.-based NueHealth and 10 surgeons.

“Rothman remains deeply committed to providing world-class access and surgical services to the Doylestown community, particularly given the recent wave of hospital and facility closures across Pennsylvania,” Rothman CEO Christian Ellison told Becker’s in a statement.

More hospitals have closed in Pennsylvania than in any other state this year, reflecting a growing crisis in the state’s healthcare infrastructure. Pennsylvania’s hospital challenges are multifaceted, leaders told Becker’s, involving a combination of overextended M&A strategies, reimbursement declines, workforce shortages and a rising tide of severe malpractice settlements.

Becker’s has reached out to Doylestown Hospital and Jefferson Health and will update this story if more information becomes available.
