Optum to acquire Massachusetts medical group

Newton, Mass.-based Atrius Health, a subsidiary of Optum, plans to acquire Acton Medical Associates, a 45-provider primary care group serving the Boston area, according to a Sept. 25 filing from the Massachusetts Health Policy Commission.

Acton comprises 45 providers and serves nearly 37,000 patients. Atrius was purchased by Optum in 2022 and serves more than 749,000 patients across 29 locations. 

The proposed acquisition remains subject to approval by state regulators.
