Spokane, Wash.-based Eye Consultants PS opened a new clinic and plans to launch an ASC  in Spokane Valley to expand access to cataract and vision care.

The clinic opened in August, with an adjacent surgery center expected to open this fall, according to an Oct. 9 Spokane Journal of Business report.

The center will perform procedures previously done at Holy Family Hospital in Spokane, including cataract surgery, LASIK, refractive lens exchange and implantable collamer lens implantation.

The practice, which operates two locations with a staff of about 40, is expanding to meet rising demand for cataract surgery as the population ages, according to the report.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
