Irene Oshiyoye, former CEO of a Farmington, Mich.-based physician group, agreed to pay $250,000 to settle allegations of defrauding Medicare and Medicaid, according to a Sept. 12 news release from the Justice Department.
What happened?
- Ms. Oshiyoye and her late husband, Adekunle Oshiyoye, Md, ran Advance Visiting Physicians.
- Between 2018 and 2021, they allegedly submitted false claims for home health visits performed by unlicensed and unsupervised foreign physicians.
- The settlement resolves claims under the False Claims Act’s whistleblower provisions.
