Georgia ASC performs 1st robotic-assisted joint replacement

Brunswick, Ga.-based Premier Surgery Center has completed its first Stryker Mako robotic-assisted total joint replacement, according to a Sept. 12 Savannah Business Journal  report.

Kevin Brooks, MD, a surgeon with Savannah, Ga.-based Optim Orthopedics who has performed more than 2,000 robotic-assisted procedures, completed the center’s first case Sept. 8. 

The Mako system uses 3D modeling and robotic precision to improve implant placement, preserve bone and tissue and support faster recovery, according to the report.
