10 happiest, least happy states

Hawaii is the happiest state in the country, while West Virginia is the least-happy, according to a Sept. 8 report from WalletHub. 

To create the ranking, WalletHub drew on publicly available data from sources such as the U.S. Census Bureau, the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the CDC. The site measured happiness through three broad lenses, emotional and physical well-being, work environment, and community and environment, to capture how each state supports the overall quality of life of its residents.

The 10 happiest states:
