Edgewood, Ky.-based St. Elizabeth Healthcare is one of only two U.S. health systems using 3D 4K endoscopic technology for totally endoscopic cardiac surgery, according to a Sept. 2 report by Cincinnati Magazine.
The imaging platform allows surgeons to perform complex heart procedures through small incisions instead of a traditional sternotomy. It enhances precision, shortens operating times and recovery periods, and expands treatment options for conditions such as valve disease and mitral annular calcification, making surgery possible for patients who are not candidates for open-chest procedures, according to the report.
