Anniston-based Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center has become the first hospital in Alabama to perform a new gastroenterology biopsy procedure that enables physicians to collect larger, more intact tissue samples for more accurate diagnoses and personalized treatment, according to an Aug. 22 report by The Anniston Star.
The endoscopic ultrasound-guided procedure, led by Mohamad Eloubeidi, MD, RMC’s director of endoscopy and president of the Alabama Gastroenterology Society, uses a device that improves sample quality, helping detect cancers and other GI diseases with greater precision.
The addition spares patients in northeast Alabama the need to travel to large academic medical centers for state-of-the-art GI diagnostics, according to the report.
