North Liberty, Iowa-based Steindler Surgery Center has performed its first three hip replacement surgeries using the anterior approach, according to an Aug.11 Corridor Business Journal report.

Joint replacement specialist Derek Breder, MD, led the procedures, which the center said can shorten recovery time, reduce pain and lower complication risk by avoiding cuts to major muscles.

Steindler Surgery Center is an ambulatory surgery center where all procedures are performed on a same-day discharge basis. The center is part of Iowa City, Iowa-based Steindler Orthopedics.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
