The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine has named Stuart Bertsch, MD, as chair of the department of anesthesiology.
Dr. Bertsch joined the department of anesthesiology in 2013. He also serves as a staff anesthesiologist at UC Medical Center, according to an Aug. 8 news release from the university.
Dr. Bertsch has been serving as interim chair since April 1, 2024. Under his leadership, the anesthesiology department has experienced a 30% increase in clinical workload as well as the development of eight new operating rooms at UC Medical Center.
His strategic priorities as chair include addressing workforce development, managing clinical demand and integrating advanced technologies.
The appointment is effective Aug. 11, the release said.
