Galen Leung, MD, a nationally recognized expert in advanced endoscopic techniques for early cancer detection and gastrointestinal disease, has been named chief of advanced endoscopy at NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island in Mineola, N.Y., according to a July 23 system news release.
Dr. Leung specializes in third-space (intramural) endoscopy and has led research in the diagnosis and treatment of pancreaticobiliary diseases and gastrointestinal malignancies. He previously served as director of endoscopy quality improvement at the Philadelphia-based University of Pennsylvania and is an editorial board member of Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
He earned his medical degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and completed his residency at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, both in New York City. He later completed fellowships at Stony Brook (N.Y.) University and the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.
