Premier Surgery Center of Louisville performed 3,123 outpatient surgeries last year. According to the report, the move will bring a missing surgery presence to Jewish Hospital Medical Center Northeast, which opened in 2009 and offers emergency and cancer services.

Under the partnership deal, Jewish & St. Mary’s will become part-owner of both Premier and SurgeCenter of Louisville, the latter of which performed 4,261 surgeries last year and is located in a separate complex. The two centers are currently co-owned by Surgical Care Affiliates and community physicians.

According to the report, Premier’s arrival at the Old Henry campus will create more competition among local hospital systems for surgery business. Baptist Healthcare System, Jewish & ST. Mary’s and Norton Healthcare are the three biggest competitors in the area.
