Pinehurst (N.C.) Radiology Associates, which shuttered following a cyberattack earlier this year, has sold its property to its longtime partner FirstHealth of the Carolinas for $5.75 million, according to a June 2 report from The Pilot.

The parcel, located in Pinehurst Medical Plaza, was purchased by the health system, though the sale did not include the radiology practice itself. FirstHealth plans to renovate the building and reopen it for imaging services, according to the report.

“FirstHealth is renovating the building, and we will reopen it for imaging services in the near future,” Gretchen Kelly, administrative director of government and public relations at FirstHealth, told the publication.

The radiology group first experienced the cyberattack in January. In the weeks that followed, Pinehurst Radiology Associates launched an internal investigation and brought in legal counsel along with cybersecurity specialists to assist with response and recovery.

While the radiology practice has ceased operations for now, the North Carolina Secretary of State’s Office is currently processing a corporate registration under the Pinehurst Radiology name, signaling potential developments ahead.
