Gary, Ind.-based Methodist Hospitals has invested in Philips’ portfolio of image-guided therapy tools that integrate imaging systems and software.
The suites support several specialties, including stroke treatment, oncology therapies and complex cardiovascular intervention, according to a June 25 news release from Philips.
Methodist Hospitals will use one Philips Azurion biplane for all types of procedures and will standardize care on two single-plane labs for cardiovascular care and a multi-purpose lab for complex cardiovascular and interventional radiology procedures.
Methodist will use these systems across its 500 inpatient beds and more than 400 physicians, including at the Heart and Vascular Institute and NeuroScience Institute.
In results from a third-party study, Philips’ Azurion system was shown to improve operational and clinical efficiency in the interventional suite, including a 17% reduction in procedure time, providing the ability to treat one more patient per day, the release said.
