The majority of physicians are choosing to invest their money in mutual funds, including index or bond funds, according to Medscape’s 2025 “Where Doctors Are Comfortable Investing” report, published April 18. 

Here are the key places where physicians are choosing to invest their funds:

Mutual funds: 54%

Individual stocks: 50%

Residential real estate/rental properties: 31%

Exchange-traded funds: 30%

Personal property (art, jewelry, cars, vintage coins): 22%

Individual bonds: 18%
Annulities: 14%
Cryptocurriences: 12%

Commercial real estate/lease properties: 11%

Medical business: 8%

Nonmedical business: 7%

Other: 3% 

None of the above: 12%
