Dr. Frist co-founded Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare with his father in 1968.
199. Robert Duggan: $12 billion
Mr. Duggan is a biotech entrepreneur best known for leading the 2015 sale of Pharmacyclics, a cancer drug company, to AbbVie for $21 billion.
248. Carl Cook: $10.6 billion
As CEO and owner of Cook Group, Mr. Cook oversees a major medical device manufacturer based in Bloomington, Ind. The company was co-founded by his parents in the 1960s and remains family-owned.
347. Ronda Stryker: $8.6 billion
Ms. Stryker is a director at Stryker Corp., the medical technology firm founded by her grandfather, Homer Stryker, MD. She holds a significant ownership stake and plays an active role in the company’s governance.
369. John Brown: $8.2 billion
Mr. Brown served as CEO of Stryker Corp. for more than 30 years and later became chair emeritus. He remains closely tied to the company’s legacy.
487. Reinhold Schmieding: $6.9 billion
Mr. Schmieding is the founder of Arthrex, a Naples, Fla.-based company specializing in minimally invasive surgical technology. He launched the business in 1981 and continues to lead its operations.
597. Patrick Soon-Shiong, MD: $5.9 billion
Dr. Soon-Shiong is the inventor of Abraxane, a chemotherapy drug for pancreatic cancer. His pharmaceutical ventures have made him one of the most recognized figures in biotech.
634. Jon Stryker: $5.6 billion
Mr. Stryker is a philanthropist and founder of the Arcus Foundation, which supports LGBTQ+ and environmental causes. He is the grandson of Stryker Corp. founder Dr. Homer Stryker and inherited a significant stake in the company.
650. Li Ge, PhD: $5.4 billion
Dr. Ge co-founded WuXi AppTec, a global provider of R&D and manufacturing services for the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. He continues to serve as chairman and CEO.
887. Pat Stryker: $4.1 billion
Ms. Stryker is a philanthropist and founder of the Bohemian Foundation, which supports programs in music, community development, civic engagement, and global impact. She is also an heir to the Stryker Corp. fortune.
