Hazleton (Pa.) Anesthesia Services has faced a data breach, according to an April 1 report from the Standard Speaker.

Hazelton’s management company detected unusual activity within staff emails on Nov. 21, 2024. By March 10 it had determined that a breach had occurred.

Following an investigation by a third party, it was determined that an unauthorized party had accessed a handful of email accounts.

The company has not disclosed how many patients may have been impacted. Information involved may include patient names, dates of birth, diagnosis, health insurance plan and billing information, but financial account information and Social Security numbers were not affected.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
