The majority of ASCs have had few or only minor issues brought on by a lack of anesthesia staffing, according to a March 12 report from Outpatient Surgery Magazine.
While there is a predicted shortage of 12,500 providers by 2033, only 24.7% of ASCs are seeing difficulties in finding and paying providers when they are needed.
About 34.7% of ASCs report having no issues with anesthesia staffing at all, while 40.6% of ASCs report finding staffing “not too bad, but with a few hiccups.”
Similarly, 41.4% of hospital outpatient departments find obtaining staff “not too bad,” while 29.3% have found staffing difficult.
