Franklin, Tenn.-based Outpatient Imaging Affiliates, a private equity-backed physician group that delivers outpatient imaging services to hospitals, is launching a network of outpatient imaging centers in a joint venture with the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

According to a March 3 news release, the joint venture between OIA and MUSC has already led to several de novo developments across South Carolina in an effort to expand MUSC’s ambulatory outreach and improve health outcomes in the state.

“While many imaging operators have joint venture relationships, OIA is the only one whose primary business model is the joint venture model,” Creighton Cook, OIA’s vice president of operations, said in the release. “With forty-three outpatient imaging center locations partnered with sixteen hospitals across eleven states, our experience working with hospitals is unmatched.”

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
