The Director of Outpatient Surgery is responsible for providing leadership and directing all activities/services for the outpatient surgery center located within the new Outpatient Pavilion. The Director, who reports to the Vice President of Operations, has responsibility for implementing standards of practice, system and departmental policies and procedures, and ensuring quality patient care. Other responsibilities include ensuring compliance with regulatory and legal requirements by all departmental personnel.

 

The chosen candidate will be responsible for financial performance, human and material resource management, patient/customer satisfaction, appropriate reporting, and coordination of departmental functions with the operations of other hospital departments to assure quality services at a reasonable cost for patients. The Director serves as chief retention officer for his/her assigned unit(s). Based on expanded educational knowledge, clinical expertise and experience, he/she is responsible for directing safe delivery of age appropriate and culturally aware nursing care practices that address the biological, developmental, psychosocial, cultural and clinical needs of the patient and/or family or support system. The Director creates and maintains an environment that enables the system to fulfill its mission and goals and fosters communication and collaborative practice with physicians and other departments.

 

Required Minimum Education:

Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing; national certification in nursing administration or clinical specialty required. Master’s degree preferred.

 

Required Minimum Experience:

A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of nursing practice in specialty area required; three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in a management role in an outpatient surgery setting
