The move would eliminate two operating rooms from Wesley Long Community Hospital and one operating room from Wesley Long Surgery Center, both in Greensboro. The new surgery center would conduct surgeries in orthopedics, general surgery, urology, ear, nose and throat, gynecology and ophthalmology. It would open by Oct. 2012.

A public hearing on the project is scheduled for May 18.
