Zoning Debate Latest Hurdle for Proposed New Jersey Surgery Center in Franklin Lakes

The latest hurdle for a proposed ambulatory surgery center in Franklin Lakes, N.J., is a question of whether the ASC is an acceptable property in a retail-business zone, according to a report from the Franklin Lakes/Oakland Suburban News.

Tice Road Properties’ is applying to the Franklin Lakes Planning Board to build a surgery center at 793 Franklin Ave. It is an application which the attorney for Sabra Realty Associates, which owns Sabra Dental Studios located at 795 Franklin Ave., has objected to on the grounds that the ASC should not be allowed in a retail-business zone.

The zoning of the property was changed from industrial use last June, according to the report.

Tice Road Properties is proposing to raze a home to build a two-story, 16,000-square-foot surgical center on the property and an adjacent vacant lot.
