Joe Ollayos, administrator for Tri-Cities, John Plante, MD, and George Powell, MD, gave the congressman a tour and discussed with him the importance of ASCs in cutting costs and improving quality. Mr. Ollayos and the two surgeons also explained their growing concern about the disparity between HOPD and ASC reimbursement rates.

According to Mr. Ollayos, personal interaction with government representatives can help promote ASC advocacy because congress members are more likely to remember stories about people’s lives than pay attention to a bombardment of data.
