The hospital said a software upgrade error was responsible for most of the inaccurate claims.
Out of the total 249 incorrect claims, 214 constituted outpatient claims that totaled $173,000. The majority of these claims showed multiple surgery procedures when patients had only one.
The majority of inpatient claims errors were due to the incorrect billing for readmissions on the same day as discharge.
