Mr. McFarland’s plea agreement calls for a sentence within the guidelines and requires full restitution. The maximum sentence for the crime is 10 years.
Mr. McFarland admitted that between Jan. 2007 and Dec. 2009, he diverted payments due to Rosewood Cancer Care in Pittsburgh and Oaktree Cancer Care in East Liverpool, Ohio, to Verimed. He then attempted to hide the thefts by making false entries in collection logs and patient ledges. He also admitted to forging checks and sending falsified logs to the two cancer centers.
